  • Role Transition: The psychological process of exiting one social role and entering another, which often triggers an identity crisis.
  • Career Development: The ongoing process of managing your learning, work, and leisure to move toward a personally determined and evolving future.
  • Ambiguity Tolerance: The ability to perceive ambiguous situations as desirable rather than threatening. Transitions require building this skill.
  • Values-Based Decision Making: Choosing a path that aligns with your core personal values, not external expectations or “shoulds.”

Navigating Different Types of Transitions

My approach is both supportive and strategic. Our work will include:

  • Values & Strengths Assessment: Using proven exercises to identify your core values, innate strengths, and what truly energizes you to build a vision for your next chapter.
  • Narrative Therapy: Exploring the story you tell yourself about your career and life (“I’m too old to change,” “I’m not the entrepreneurial type”) and rewriting these limiting narratives.
  • Decision-Making Tools: Implementing frameworks to break down options, weigh pros and cons, and build confidence in your choices.
  • Anxiety Management: Using CBT and mindfulness techniques to manage the “what-if” thinking and fear of failure that can paralyze progress.
  • Action Planning: Co-creating a realistic plan with small, manageable steps to build momentum and make tangible progress toward your goals.

A Little Something to Help You Now: The “Values Compass” Exercise

When you feel lost, your core values can act as your compass. Try this quick exercise:

  • 1 List: Quickly jot down 3-5 moments in your life (work or personal) when you felt truly engaged, proud, or fulfilled.
  • 2 Identify: For each moment, ask: What value was being honored here? (e.g., Creativity, Security, Leadership, Connection, Freedom, Growth).
  • 3 Choose: Circle the 2-3 values that feel most essential to you right now.
  • 4 Ask: For your current decision, ask yourself: “Which option best honors these core values?”
